Brock Communities
Listings in Brock use four community names, one for each village and one for the rest. Beaverton is the lakeside village and the largest, with the harbour, the older streets and the shoreline roads. Cannington is the township seat on the Beaver River, with the high school and the municipal office. Sunderland is the southern village on Highway 12 with the fairgrounds and the arena. Rural Brock is everything else: the beach hamlets of Thorah Beach, Cedar Beach, Maple Beach and Port Bolster, Gamebridge at the mouth of the Talbot River, and the farm hamlets of Wilfrid, Vroomanton, Manilla, Blackwater, Vallentyne and Wick, plus Thorah Island. Each page below covers the housing, the roads, the schools and daily life for that community and links to the detached homes page. For a hamlet or a shoreline road, start on Rural Brock and narrow by the map.

Questions people ask about Brock Communities
Are the beach communities north of Beaverton listed under Beaverton?
Generally not. Thorah Beach, Cedar Beach, Maple Beach and the other shoreline hamlets sit outside the village boundary and are grouped under Rural Brock, even though they are a few minutes from Beaverton's main street. Search Rural Brock and use the map to isolate the Lake Simcoe shoreline, and check the listing for whether the address is on the village services.
Which community are Gamebridge and Port Bolster in?
Rural Brock. Gamebridge is the hamlet where the Talbot River and the Trent-Severn locks meet Lake Simcoe on the township's northern edge, and Port Bolster is the lakeside hamlet on the boundary with Georgina. Both are cottage and year-round communities on wells and septic systems, and both are reached from Highway 12 or Highway 48.
Is Manilla in Brock or in Kawartha Lakes?
Manilla straddles the municipal boundary on Highway 7, and the Brock side is listed under Rural Brock while addresses across the line belong to the City of Kawartha Lakes and appear under that municipality. The same boundary question applies to Blackwater and Wick on the township's edges, so check the municipality on the listing before comparing taxes and services.
